Leverage Davey’s Story

Davey was a pastor and church planter in Indianapolis when in November of 2015 his wife and unborn baby were murdered in a home invasion. Davey was left grieving as a single dad and pastor to a hurting church that he and Amanda had just recently started.

God took Davey on a healing journey in 2016 and began to show him how He wanted to re-purpose the pain Davey had walked through.

In 2017 Davey started a podcast called The Nothing is Wasted Podcast where he’s now interviewed hundreds of people about their healing journeys in various nuances of pain. This podcast now has over 1 million downloads.

At the end of 2017 Davey got remarried to Kristi and they blended their families. Davey and Kristi have spent the last 3 years working through their own healing (Davey’s big “T” trauma and Kristi’s lifelong little “t” trauma) and helping others do the same.

In 2019 Davey and Kristi started Nothing is Wasted Ministries to help people who have found themselves crushed by trauma, tragedy and major life transition. Their mission is to help people partner with God to take back their story. They do this through content that inspires, community that encourages, and coaching that challenges people to heal through their pain and re-purpose it for good.

Implementation of the Course:

• 12 Week course

• Meant to implement in 3 different ways based on the church’s need/structure:

  • Class Setting

  • Already established small group network

  • Virtual Groups/Class

• 3 Options for Structuring the Sessions:

  • Standard Model - Have participants view the entire video in the session and then proceed with discussion

  • Reverse Classroom Model - Have the participants watch the video and fill in the blank in their workbook on their own prior to the group session, and utilize the whole group session for discussion.

  • Hybrid Model - Participants watch the “Pre-Work” videos before the group session. In group everyone watches the shorter Group Session video together.
