Step Two - Preparing the Class Environment

Step Two Checklist

Decided these things:

  • Will you do tables or set chairs up in rows? (round tables work great for this environment)

  • Will you provide food each session or for some of the sessions?

  • Will you provide other materials such as pens, etc.

  • Will you be providing/arranging childcare for this class? (we would definitely suggest not having kids in the room during the sessions and discussion)

Prepare the venue/room:

  • Make sure the room is clean and clear of clutter and distraction. Anything that is not essential to the class can be something the enemy uses to distract people

  • Make sure the room feels warm and inviting

  • Make sure the room is far enough removed from other outside noises or distractions that may be taking place in the same building.

  • If you ordered all the participant guides in bulk be sure to have all guides already set out on the tables/chairs along with something to write with.

  • Make sure to have all the Audio/Visual stuff already set up and tested -- including microphones if needed, video playback, and sound. We suggest doing this several days before just to be sure you don’t need to work through some technical issues.

  • Have the Waypoint you’re watching that night be cued up and ready to play so as not to waste time. We want to maximize all the time we can.

  • Consider having some worship music playing softly as people are walking in. It sets the tone for the nature of the session and will help break down walls that are inevitably forming in hearts.

  • Finally, pray over the environment before people arrive for each session. Pray over the chairs. There is incredible healing in the presence of God so give The Holy Spirit permission to move during that time.
