Most churches are functioning at only a fraction of their potential

Unaddressed personal trauma is holding back an overwhelming amount of your people from fully walking in their purpose

In the Pain to Purpose Course we’ll help you lead your people to…

  • Identify and unpack their trauma in a safe environment.

  • Apply sound scriptural principles to their pain path for the purpose of moving through it.

  • Connect with others in your spiritual community who can encourage them toward healing.

  • Learn from their PTP Facilitator (that we train for you) on where they might get tripped up or stuck in the process.

  • Recognize what God is trying to teach them in their personal valley.

  • Implement strong life rhythms that will contribute to their ongoing health and wholeness.

  • Discover how God wired them to be on mission and how their pain can be a catalyst for powerful personal impact.

  • Turn their pain around to help others by using their gifts in the mission of your church.

I’m Davey …

In 2015 I was a pastor and church planter in Indianapolis, IN when my wife and unborn baby were murdered in our home during a break-in. Even as someone who was extremely assured of his own calling and purpose in life, my tragedy left me feeling so disoriented that I almost walked away from all of it. On top of my own personal wrestlings I struggled with how to help members of my congregation heal through this traumatic event that had also closely affected their lives.

After tens of thousands of dollars spent on personal counseling, hundreds of hours interviewing others who had walked through pain and tragedy, and hundreds more hours researching everything I could get my hands on about how to heal in a God-honoring way, I’ve distilled what I’ve learned into a 12-week course to lead your people into healing and back on mission.

FAQ

What are the differences between this and Grief Share, Divorce Care, Celebrate Recovery, etc?

Each of these well-known ministries are incredible tools as well. They each tend to address and focus on more specific nuances of pain:

  • Grief Share - Loss of a loved one

  • Divorce Care - Divorce

  • Celebrate Recovery - Addiction (specifically substance abuse)

The Pain to Purpose Course takes the a broader, more holistic approach to addressing the common denominators of pain no matter what the specifics may be (loss, sexual abuse, childhood trauma, betrayal from spouse, abortion regret and recovery, etc.)

How do we choose which format is best for facilitating the Course in our church?

This is entirely up to you. All 3 formats (Class Style, Small Group Style, or Virtual Class Style) work really well. It all depends on the strategy your church employs for pastoral care and discipleship. It also may depend on the limitations you may have due to your state’s COVID regulations. Our team is happy to work with you on helping you decide which format works best for you.

How do we choose a Facilitator for the Course?

Once you purchase the license you will have access to our Facilitator Hub. There is an article in that hub where we provide for you a list of the recommended character traits and qualities in the facilitator/s you choose to implement the Course. Once you choose your facilitator/s we handle all the training from there. We want to make this as easy and streamlined of a process for you as possible.

What kind of training does the Facilitator need?

Our team will handle all the orienting and on-going training your facilitator/s will need. Nothing is Wasted and the Pain to Purpose team is committed to help you as a facilitator and lead you through this entire process: from having access to our team for coaching and ongoing training, to the content of the 11 videos, to the Facilitator’s Guidebook, to the four Facilitator training videos. We want to supply everything we can so you can lead this with clarity and confidence. We know you as a pastor don’t need another plate to spin!

How often do you suggest we offer the Course in our calendar year?

We suggest offering the Course twice in a calendar year. Once in the Fall (September - November) and once in the Spring (February - April). This ensures you have an open window of 12 weeks to run the course once a week without interruptions (which is what we recommend). It also gives your facilitators the summer off. Some churches choose to run the course in the Summer as well. That is completely up to you.

Should we purchase Participant Guidebooks for our participants or have them do it on their own?

This is entirely up to you. Many churches choose to take advantage of our 30+ Bundle offer where if you purchase more than 30 Participant Guides at one time you receive a discount of $5 off per book. This makes things very convenient for facilitators. Then they just ask each participant to bring $20 to the first class in exchange for their Participant Guidebook. However, if you would rather each participant handle it themselves, that is perfectly fine as well.

How do we order more Participant and Facilitator Guidebooks?

You can purchase more Participant and Facilitator Guidebooks at our Nothing is Wasted Store. Click the link provided or visit www.nothingiswasted.com/store.

How do we access the marketing materials to use to promote the Course in our church?

Once you purchase the Local Church License you will be redirected to the Facilitator Hub. There we have provided marketing materials including social media graphics, suggested social media captions, promo videos, a worship guide insert, a print poster/flyer design, and a pop-up banner design. We also have included a suggested marketing plan and timeline.

How long does it take to get the Course up and running in our church?

We suggest you begin promoting the course 4-6 weeks before your first class. This will give people ample time to sign-up, order their materials, and adjust their calendar for the next 12 weeks.
